Encounter

image0.jpeg

There are artists who paint, others who shape stone. Felix Mahieu brings wood to life. Armed with his chainsaw, he sculpts with astonishing precision, revealing in each trunk a hidden story, a forgotten silhouette, a soul just waiting to emerge.

A passionate autodidact, he discovered wood carving in 2018, fascinated by the raw power of the material and the delicacy he can extract from it. Inspired by Canadian and American master carvers, he learned to tame the chainsaw, transforming what might seem like a brutal tool into a paintbrush of incredible finesse.

Elevation

Born from the trunk of an ancient tree, "The Sage of the Woods" seems inhabited by the soul of an old scholar, frozen in eternal meditation.

His closed eyes, marked by time, hide forgotten dreams, while his sculpted beard seems to blend into the wind, like an echo of the deep roots that saw him born.

Every notch in the wood tells a story, every roughness whispers ancient wisdom. Here, Félix Mahieu captures the essence of silence and mystery, offering the viewer a fragment of eternity frozen in living matter.

Cute bear

Carved from the raw strength of wood, "The Spirit of the Bear" imposes its presence, majestic and indomitable. Its deep gaze, sculpted with shadows and lights, seems to probe the souls of those who observe it.

Each notch speaks of the power of nature, each curve evokes the nobility of the animal. Félix Mahieu captures here the wild strength and ancestral wisdom, frozen in living matter, like an echo of primordial forests.

Process

A unique, almost spiritual dimension

His art doesn't stop at technical mastery. Each sculpture is a dialogue between nature and the artist, an encounter between the strength of wood and Félix's vision. Whether it's an animal emerging from the trunk, a character with a profound gaze, or an abstract form inspired by the movement of trees, his works captivate and challenge.

At the same time, Felix Mahieu is also a tree surgeon, a climber, and pruner, a profession that brings him into direct contact with the raw material of his art. He doesn't just sculpt wood; he understands it, guides it through its growth, and shapes it with respect. This intimate connection with trees gives his creations a unique, almost spiritual dimension.

Today, he shares his art through exhibitions and demonstrations, mesmerizing audiences with the spectacular transformation of a simple trunk into a vibrant work of art. Each chainsaw stroke, each sculpted detail, is a celebration of nature, an invitation to see beyond the bark.

The Bear Spiral

Once upon a time, there lived an ancient oak tree, struck down by time, whose soul refused to disappear. A passionate sculptor, inspired by the power of nature, gave it new life in the form of a majestic bear. Now, it silently watches over, a witness to the secrets of the forest and protector of wandering souls.
